What we're listening to. The Stranglers 'Rattus Norvegicus'

The Guildford Stranglers (because they started in Guildford, Surrey, UK 1974) became The Stranglers and perhaps the original UK punk scene band.

You'll know 'Golden Brown', 'Peaches' (on this record), 'Hanging Around' (here too), 'Something better change', 'No More Heroes' and perhaps, one of the greatest rock songs ever - 'Go Buddy Go' - which appears on this Album reissue in 2011. It is, a classic.

Rattus Norvegicus (which means Brown Rat) was their 1977 debut and is one of the UK best selling records and certainly in the punk genre. It showcases vocalist Hugh Cornwell who left in 1990 to go solo.

But you have to remember that it was a total breakthrough at a time. It was new, different and certainly, not boring. Hardly. It signified all things punk and all things protest.

When you hear it now, it's just as fresh. A must have Album.

Now hear this classic first (Go Buddy Go)...from Top of The Pops I kid you not.....and then 'No More Heroes' and 'Nice and Sleazy'. Magic.
