What we're listening to: John Cougar 'American Fool'

John Cougar, John Mellencamp, John Cougar Mellencamp, Pearly Doggy (true) name/s come from German extraction and you didn't know this, he was born in 1951 in Indiana (where he still lives) with Spina Bifida which was corrected as a child.

1982 his fifth but breakthrough Album 'America Fool' came largely because of radio plays of the single 'Jack and Diane' (and 'Hurts so good'). They are the 2 songs that carry the record but it was one of the best selling 1982 records and still is.

That said, he's had a lot of great rockin' Americana songs - 'Pink Houses' stands out for us, 'Small Town', 'ROCK in the USA', 'Crumblin Down', 'Lonely ol night', 'Paper in Fire', all very rock and roll. If you're in the mood, they'll get you going. It's authentic American rock in a Springsteen/Tom Petty way.

You'll find a lot of them on this Album:

He's an established painter, actor and the founder of Farm Aid, dated Christine Brinkley and Meg Ryan. Very Democrat and some songs are anti Republican, so he's become political too. A wide and varied life as he hits 70.

For Streamabout, he's one of those Artists that's respected because, like the songs or not, he's genuine. A good guy. But definitely needs video help as you'll see (!).

But great songs to cheer you up! Get American Fool.
