What we're listening to: Ten Years After 'Undead'

Often, often asked, who is the great guitarist of all time? There's a lot of contenders and Rory Gallagher, Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Glen Campbell, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, Zappa, spring to mind (Clapton doesn't by the way) but in the list you simply have to add, Alvin Lee.

This live Ten Years After Album was recorded in a club called Klooks Kleek in London 1968, their second Album. It's blues but it's rock and very much has that clubby feel in production terms - mind you, it was 1968....

If you like great guitar playing, all you need do is turn to two songs - 'Woodchoppers Ball' and especially, 'I'm going home'. Mind blowing.

Alvin Lee (actually, Graham Barnes), died in Spain in 2013, played incredibly, blisteringly fast and note perfectly.

You won't know Ten Years After probably, but they were a huge stadium band in the early 70's and part of this Blog is to bring you stuff you might not have heard. If you like guitar, you'll like this. Promise.

Here's a taste. That's Alvin on vocals.
