What we're listening to: Michael Jackson 'Thriller'

Perhaps a little obvious, or then, why haven't we mentioned it before? Because, perhaps, it was a little obvious......

But we put it on during the week and were reminded just how good it is.

His 6th Album from 1982 (yep over 30 years ago) and the follow up to 'Off the Wall' already mentioned in this Blog. He died in 2009....

Quincy Jones produced although Jackson only wrote 4 of the 9 songs. It's poppy and in a way, funky, but looking back, it's really disco.

We think it's probably still the best selling Album of all time and a record 8 Grammy awards for sure. The videos of course for 'Thriller', 'Beat it', and 'Billie Jean' (they're all here) were symbols of the style of an MTV generation (John Landis). You'll find these official MTV videos below.

'The Girl is mine' is of course recorded with Paul McCartney and that's Vincent Price voicing 'Thriller' with the creaking door, thunder sound effects. Janet and La Toya Jackson are here as is James Ingram and a cast of thousands.

'Human Nature', 'Pretty Young Thing'....it goes on from excellent track to track. There's a reason it's the best seller of all time. A good reason.

This just isn't an option. You simply have to have it whether you like it, or not. It's a piece of recording history. A best piece. THE best piece.

And you want to see a master performer at work....
