What we're listening to: Happy Mondays 'Pills Thrills and Bellyaches'

Ah, The Happy Mondays. 1990, their third Album and produced by Paul Oakenfold for the great, Factory Records.

A super Album with 'Kinky Afro' being the standout track but 'Step On', 'Dennis and Lois' and 'Grandbags Funeral' deserve mention. Part of that massive Manchester scene and it's hard not to think of Shaun Ryder being the real character of the time (whom we saw recently on The History Channel doing something about UFO's. Bizarre). He said he overcame his heroin addiction through cycling. See.

But him and the Gallaghers symbolised the time. Albeit dancer Bez (Mark Berry), gets a look-in.

If you want to see what the time was like with Ryder, watch the '24 Hour Party People'. And that's what they were.

And if you want to hear more of Shaun Ryder see Black Grape's Album "It's great to be straight, yeah" with Carlos the jackal on the cover.

You'll see the terrific single 'Reverend Black Grape' 4th below and it's one of the GREAT videos.

'Twisting my Melon' is his autobiography (from 'Step on' single lyrics and you'll see that below too).

This is Dance, Rave Dance, but in a poppy way and happy way. It's a great celebration of loose music that just sounds great. So if you need a lift, look no further. You'll get used to it (!).
