What we're listening to: Hall & Oates 'The Singles'

I know, I know, a compilation Album is hardly ever their greatest record (unless they're The Eagles!) but given that Daryl Hall (actually born 'Hohl' but changed it for pronunciation, of German descent) and John Oates are on tour (playing Dublin this weekend)...it's actually the best way to hear them in this case.

'Maneater', 'She's gone', 'I can't go for that', 'Out of touch', 'Private Eyes', 'Kiss on my lips', 'Rich Girl' is here and so you get the picture. But their standout all-time track 'Sara Smile' is here too (for Sara Allen a Hall girlfriend) from their first Album ('Silver') in 1976.

It's a 2008 compilation from the Philadelphia duo who have been huge for decades and rightly so. It is pop but based on harmonies (Hall mainly the vocalist) and great songwriting. Not just that, Daryl Hall is rumoured to be the nicest guy in music.

You'll know them but don't forget them. This is a good place to start.
They'll brighten any Friday.
