What we're listening to. Stevie Wonder "Songs in the key of life".

I'll be honest with you, this was fairly new to me too when it went on in Streamabout. Although I'd heard great things about the Album, I never took the time to listen to it. Sorry that I didn't...

It was Stevie Wonder's 18th Album (honestly, 18th) released in 1976. A double Album and it's his most commercial and most critically acclaimed Album of them all.

Recorded in Hollywood, after he'd just signed at $37m deal with Motown for 7 Albums. It was the biggest Album deal at that time ever. A total of, wait for it, 130 people worked on the record including Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Minnie Riperton and it won 4 grammys with Stevie accepting on video link from Africa.

He's always had a desire to help people in Africa, notably, Ghana.

Elton John called it his favourite Album of all-time, as did George Michael. Michael Jackson said it was his favourite Stevie Album, Prince said it was the best Album ever recorded and so it goes, on and on. High praise.

It was the second biggest seller of 1977 behind 'Rumours'.

You'll know 'Sir Duke', 'Isn't she lovely' and probably 'I wish' but it's a complete mix of styles all written by Stevie. With a line-up of talent too, you have to hear it.

It's extraordinary stuff and all the acclaim is well founded. I took too long to hear it, so you don't make that mistake.
