What we're listening to: ACDC 'Back in Black

Australian Band ACDC seventh Album released in 1980 is without doubt, their masterpiece. If that is, you like that sort of thing but Summer's here and this will get you going.

It was their first with Geordie, Brian Johnson on vocals, having replaced Bon Scott who died sleeping overnight in a Renault 5, after drinking in a London pub. Acute alcoholic poisoning. That's rock and roll for you.

The black cover was a tribute to his death.

'Highway to Hell' had been recorded in 1979 and got the boys real recognition. This Album was next, recorded in The Bahamas, with the Young brothers doing the music and Johnson writing the lyrics. It's possibly the second highest selling Album in history (behind 'Thriller') but it's there, or thereabouts. It was/is HUGE.

'You shook me all night long', 'Hells Bells', 'Have a Drink on me' are now all classics but it has a superb sound given 1980 Production levels. they are an incredible live Band too.

This is Rock. Pure and simple in its most debased, edgy, way.
It's a great record and will cheer you up no end. There's a lot of fun in it too.

Crank it up!
